"What's Going On?"

Recent News

The Arts Council of Moore County (in North Carolina) is holding their Palustris Festival in March from the 25th-27th. Hollyhocks Art Gallery will be hosting a reception during the evening of the 25th, a Thursday. email me for more details.
Good news! I have been accepted as an exhibiting artist at Appalachian Physical Therapy which is located at 111 Central Park Avenue in Pinehurst, NC. Many companies in North Carolina exhibit art work and an artist goes through an acceptance process much like that for acceptance into an exhibit. I'll be displaying my paintings and whimsical drawings in September and October. The reception date will be determined later.

Comments? I'd love to read them.
Continuing On From Last Week...

Originally a black and white painting, I again painted, from a photograph, this baby Dartmoor pony. Living in rugged south-western England, these ponies have a heavy, wavy coat during most of the year. This coat and mane made details of the foal very difficult to distinguish. Painting the scene again, in color, created a more pleasing scene. The painting measures 10x8, is framed in a canvas shadowbox and is for sale.

Continuing On...

Rising 2,600 feet above the valley floor, Pilot Mountain stands alone in western North Carolina. The lower Sauertown Mountains are to the North and directly west, across a valley, are the Smokies and the famous Blue Ridge. This view is from Big Pinnacle Trail on Pilot Mountain, looking towards the Blue Ridge on a cool Fall day.
I repainted the foreground, trees, and some of the background this week. I dulled the too bright cadmium yellow foreground with burnt sienna washes and livened up the tree trunks with burnt sienna also. The middle ground has also glazed to make more interesting lights and darks.
